Ana & Juan are not the kind of couple that simply rest a recuperate after their wedding. These two find so much joy in being active together, so hiking up the Pacaya Volcano two days after their wedding felt like the perfect way to complete their three-day wedding celebration in Guatemala.
We took a criminally-early bus ride to make sure we got to the volcano before expected cloud cover and early-morning light. We chatted about life, their wedding, their future together and everything in-between. What a lot of people don’t realize is how much time you spend with your wedding photographers, so it’s so important that you vibe with them and connect with them in person! But I digress. After we arrived, we started making our way slowly up the rocky terrain, taking photos along the way. We reached the famous volcano jewelry store that sits perilously perched on the slope of this active volcano, where we had the couple change into their wedding clothes.
Now, saying that maneuvering around a rocky terrain is difficult is an understatement. Add the fact that Ana’s gorgeous lace Galia Lahav dress was snagging on every rock that she encountered, and you can imagine that our mobility was limited. But these two did not falter in energy or enthusiasm. They even went along with our insane drone shot idea and laid down on what must have been an extremely uncomfortable surface of sharp volcanic rocks.
As the wind pick up, Ana’s long hair whipped around her and Juan, making for some beautifully whimsical shots against the rocky backdrop. We are so elated with the result from this shoot and hope to have more couples like this in the future.
