Book Dani & Mishka

Frequently Asked Questions
Who will shoot my wedding? The two of you?
Yes, we shoot every wedding as a team of two - Dani & Mishka. We always shoot weddings together in Guatemala and worldwide if your budget permits. We can discuss options with you to figure out what works best when you decide to book.
How long after the wedding until we receive our images?
We always deliver your images in 4-6 weeks after your wedding day, being 4 weeks our most common delivery time.
Could you give us advice for planning & recommend us wedding planners & other vendors?
We have been living and doing weddings in Antigua for the past 12 years and are always happy to help couples coordinate their weddings in Guatemala & make them feel comfortable with getting married here. We can provide advice on venues, timing, wedding week activities for your guests, tourist spots to visit, restaurants, wedding planners, decorators, make-up artists, logistics, and any other questions you might have. We also have a network of amazing & reliable vendors that we can share with you.
Even though you have a storytelling approach to weddings, can you shoot family portraits?
Don’t worry if you want a handful of group shots. We fully understand the requirement for these & will effectively undertake any formal shots to allow you to get on with enjoying yourself! We can also get more formals at any of our optional pre or post wedding sessions.
When is the best time to get married in Guatemala?
November to May is the dry season, so we usually recommend shooting for that time if rain is one of your concerns.
Can you tell us more about the images we will receive?
We shoot between 7.000 and 11.000 images per wedding, and we typically deliver between 700 and 1000 final images, depending on the Collection you choose. We send you high resolution files, with all the rights for online use & printing. All delivered photos are sorted & edited by us.
We heard you also deliver slideshows. Can you tell me more about those?
One of our favorite parts of being wedding photographers is compiling the slideshow we put together for every couple that gets married. There is something truly special about watching your wedding day set to music. We select the best photos, pair them with music & upload it to an online platform where you can share & download your slideshow. Below is the link to some examples of slideshow we have delivered: Slideshows
Do you bring backup cameras to our wedding?
Yes. We bring 4 cameras to your wedding (2 each, 1 on each shoulder) & multiple lenses, batteries & cards. We also have extra cameras & gear at home in Antigua that we can go and grab at any point.
Do you have testimonials or reviews from other clients?
You can find our almost 100 5-star reviews from previous wedding clients on our Google Business Page.
How can we book you?
We accept a limited number of weddings per year to ensure that we deliver the quality of photos and service that you deserve. When you are ready to book, simply "Send Us a Message" at the bottom of this page or fill out our contact form on the "Contact" page. To reserve your wedding date with us, we ask for a 50 percent retainer + a signed contract. We can receive deposits through Zelle, with a Credit Card, or wires to our accounts in the USA, Guatemala & Spain, as well as Paypal (+4%). Prices are locked once we receive the retainer, unfortunately we cannot book wedding dates unless we receive the retainer & the contract.
Why is your business named only after Dani if you are a two-person team?
We get asked this question a lot and the story goes that Dani started doing photography with his name as the business for a few years before Melissa joined in. At that point, business and contacts had been developed and the conversation of changing the name did arise. However, both Mishka and Dani decided to keep the name as it is and that was that!
Is Mishka Russian?
Hahaha we also get this question a lot! And the answer is no, she is from Omaha, Nebraska. Her real name is Melissa, but her brothers gave her the nickname Mishka when she was little & it stuck. No one really knows where it came from, but Dani thinks it came from the mascot of the Olympic Games of Moscow of 1980.
Are you a couple?
Yes! We have been together for over 10 years, and we got married on Lake Atitlan in 2017. We are also parents!
Do you shoot LGBTQIA+ couples & weddings?
Yes, absolutely!
Will we meet you before our wedding?
We are available to meet over breakfast, lunch or coffee in person if you are in Antigua, or via video chat. We can also discuss the details of your wedding via email, phone call or whatsapp.
Do you have insurance for your cameras?
Yes. We are fully covered worldwide.
What if you get sick?
We have covered more than 300 weddings & haven´t missed a single one. We are 2 people, so if one of us gets sick the other one can still cover your wedding. We also have a list of professional photographer friends here in Guatemala that we can call to second shoot or replace us in case of emergency.
Should I feed you during our wedding?
Our average wedding day is 8-12 hours. So it's great if we get a chance to fill up and recharge. We do not need to sit with your guests, unless you want us to. We always eat at the same time as the wedding guests (no one wants pictures of wedding guests stuffing their faces anyway.) We carry energy bars & water with us throughout the day, but a good dinner break is essential for us to continue sharp & focused coverage long into the night.
Do you photograph us getting ready?
Of course! We love capturing the story of the whole day, that’s why all our packages have enough hours of coverage to get the story of the day. We love capturing those moments before the ceremony since they are full of emotion. Once we send you our questionnaire you can tell us what time you start getting ready & we will coordinate to be there.
Can you outline your workflow with wedding couples?
We enjoy keeping an open dialog with our couples, and answer promptly to emails. Below you can find a summary of how we communicate with our couples: 1) We get your request & answer with our Collections & more information about how we work. We can also schedule a Zoom talk or meet in person if you need more information from us. 2) You book with us via a 50% retainer + signing a contract. 3) We send you our Questionnaire, with some questions that will help us understand what your wedding will be like in terms of style, preferences & timeline. We can always talk on Skype if you find it necessary. 4) We shoot your lovely wedding! 5) 4 to 5 weeks after we process & deliver your wedding pictures via a password protected online gallery. 6) You can get extra prints & albums from us. 7) You two live happily ever after with awesome memories saved as beautiful photographs!
Do you offer Wedding Albums?
We consider it a privilege to create, from scratch, an album design that reflects the beauty and emotion of your wedding day. The albums we offer are flawless with perfect color & quality, designed on beautiful fine art matte paper & lasting for more than 100 years. Flipping through the album pages, is by far the best way to remember your wedding. Your children will be grateful. Let us know & we will send you more information about our albums.
